ENFORCEMENT
Seventeen Enforcement Squads, each headed by an Assistant Executive Engineer/Electrical are functioning throughout the state under the control of Executive Engineers in 4 divisions i.e. Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Trichy. In addition to these Enforcement Squads, one more squad known as Flying Squad/Chennai is also functioning in the Enforcement wing. Functioning of all these 18 Squads are supervised by the Superintending Engineer/ Enforcement/Chennai with overall control of Inspector General of Police/Vigilance/TANGEDCO.
DUTIES OF ENFORCEMENT WING:
The Enforcement wing conducts inspection of all types of service connections and detects theft of energy, if any, and thereby prevents revenue leakage.
• As per TNERC regulation 23 (BB)(4) “the licensee shall arrange for regular and surprise inspection of premises by their officers to ensure prevention of theft or unauthorised use of electricity or tampering, distress or damage to electrical plant, electric lines or meter. At least 5% of total connections should be inspected annually and the provisions contained in sections 126 and 135(2) shall be effectively implemented”.
• Inspection of HTSC - once in 2yrs
• Seasonal Industries - steel, carbide, ice factory etc., - every year.
• S/Cs with Check meters – once in a quarter
• LTCT services – once in 3 years
• Power services 150 nos.- every month
• Total target for the Year 2011-12 – Rs.150 Crores.
