Tangedco to alert consumers on bill with SMS

Coimbatore: It would now become easier for Tamil Nadu Generation and Distr­ibu­tion Corporation (Tang­edco) co­nsumers to pay their bills on time. For the Tangedco officials would soon send SMS alerts to each consumer in their respective jurisdiction.

The consumers should register with the section officers so that the SMS alert would be sent to them on time.

“This will help them from disconnection due to non-payment,” said Tangedco superintending engineer S. Gururajan here on Saturday.

There had been little awareness among the people concerning this, because of which regular reminders were being given, he said.

Through the SMS, the consumers would get to know their current consumption charge and due date for disconnection.

Now, the consumers should pay the charges within 20 days from the date of reading, and many forget to.

But an SMS alert could save them from the trouble, said the SE, while appealing to the consumers to approach the nearby section officers and register their mobile numbers to get the alerts.
